How to Prepare for a Couples Session

Howdy all lovebirds!

Are you getting ready for your couples photography session and feeling a bit nervous? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. I believe that every couple is unique and deserves photos that truly capture their connection. Here are some tips and advice to help you get the most out of your shoot. Let’s make it an unforgettable experience!

Authenticity is key.

I like to pride myself on making each session genuine to you. The best photos happen when you’re being yourselves. Laugh, joke, hold hands, steal a kiss, or do whatever feels natural to you. Don’t stress about posing too much—I’ll guide you and capture those candid, intimate moments that truly reflect your relationship.

First things first, pick a location that means something to you both. Whether it's the place where you had your first date, a favorite park, or a cozy spot at home, choosing a meaningful location will make your photos even more special. Edmonton has tons of great spots like in River Valley, around Whyte Avenue, even at the stunning Muttart Conservatory.

Okay let’s talk outfits. You don’t need to match exactly, but coordinating your outfits can really bring your photos together. Think about complementary colors and styles that reflect your personalities. Avoid loud patterns and logos as they can be distracting. Instead, opt for solid colors and subtle patterns. Most importantly, wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident.

A little planning goes a long way. Think about the best time of day for your shoot. The golden hour (just after sunrise or before sunset) offers beautiful, soft lighting that’s perfect for photos. Also, consider any props or items you might want to include, like a blanket for a picnic setup or items that are special to your relationship.

Let me know if there are any specific shots or styles you love. Share your vision and any ideas you have. This helps me tailor the session to your preferences and ensures you get the photos you’ve always dreamed of. I always opt for a documentary style images, I want it to feel like a date night, where someone just captures you as you are.

This is your moment to shine and celebrate your love. Don’t worry about the little things. Trust me to do my magic. The more relaxed and comfortable you are, the better your photos will turn out. So, take a deep breath, enjoy the experience, and have fun with it.

Always trust the process. Even if things don’t go exactly as planned, those unplanned moments always turn out to be the most memorable.
